Big Girl Room--LONG overdue:)

This post is so overdue that it is not even funny but I wanted to share anyway:) Sarah Kathryn officially moved into her "big girl" room when she turned 2 (she is almost 3.5 now), actually about 3 weeks after she turned 2. As we were awaiting Matthew's arrival we put her big girl bed and her crib in her bedroom. She was not ready to transition into her bed so we just let it sit there for awhile. THEN, the week that we brought Matthew home from the hospital she decided on her own that it was time to begin using the bed. So, needless to say we did not need two cribs after all. It worked out perfect and has ever since. She loves her bed...but I mean who wouldn't!!

I went fabric hunting when I was still pregnant with Matthew with hopes of having her room complete before he arrived, well that did not happen. I did manage to buy everything but have since been piecing it together. With the help of my mom, dad and Thomas it is finally 98% finished!! It has been this way for some time now but I finally took some pics the other day.

For SK's 2nd birthday, my dad made with his own two hands this beautiful armoire. I absolutely love it and I love it even more that it will be kept in our family for many years to come. He made it exactly how I wanted it and it looks fabulous in SK's room. My dad does wood working as a hobby and has made us several pieces in our house, we love them all. SK definitely knows and still from time to time will tell us that "Papa made her that"! So sweet.

Also, for SK's second birthday, Thomas made her the book shelf that hangs on the wall by her rocker. It is a replica of the Pottery Barn book shelf (as is the armoire) but since he made it from scratch I was able to choose the paint color. It turned out great and is well used since we LOVE books and love to read.

I made the picture above her bed and I have one last "art" project but that will probably take me forever to complete. My mom pitched in by making/having made the dust ruffle and pillow shams. I really hope that Sarah Kathryn will still love this room for at least 3 more years because it may take me that long to save up for a "re-do"!
