Getting so big...
Sarah Kathryn in her new swing!
Naked baby!!
Sarah Kathryn and her Great Aunt MaggieOver the last couple of weeks we have been experimenting with Sarah Kathryn and what we feed her (my milk or formula). It was pretty evident to our pediatrician that Sarah Kathryn has a milk protein allergy which is making her allergic to my breast milk...nice, huh! So, we did not feed her any breast milk for a week straight which meant I had to pump around the clock to keep up my milk supply. We then had Sarah Kathryn all nice and happy with the "special" formula and our doctor suggested that we re-introduce my milk back to see what happened. We were back to square one with screams after each feeding. So, we have stopped feeding her my milk and are now strictly on formula. I will say that it is a whole different ball game when it comes to formula poops! Thomas likes to refer to the formula poop as "two day old guacamole"...it is so disgusting! So, the reason that it makes me not so happy is because I have had to "dry" up which has been hell! I was trying to ween myself off but that did not work so well since I am a milk making machine...literally! After a week of weening I finally called the doctor and she said that I would have to stop cold turkey. I really don't think I have felt pain like this before but I think I am finally at the end of the whole process. Thank goodness for the pain killers that I had left over from my surgery, they were a life saver! So, Sarah Kathryn is happy and I think I will be happy in a few more days! I think the worse part about this whole experiment is that we have over 300 ounces of breast milk in our freezer and I just hate to throw it away...
Other than tyring to figure out what to feed our little girl we have been enjoying all her new tricks! She has rolled over, she does a good job at trying to help me hold her bottle, she has picked her passy up and attempted to put it in her mouth (she was unsuccessful) and she is now cooing at us constantly. We went to the pediatrician on Friday for her 2 month check-up and it was not a fun visit to say the least. She is gaining weight like a champ (11 lb. 5 oz--75 %) but she had to get several shots and that made her very unhappy! Dad had to come with us to the doctor because I get more upset than she does when receiving the shots.
We also had another family member come to visit us this past week. Great Aunt Maggie came down for a long weekend to meet Sarah Kathryn (Thomas' aunt). She traveled all the way down from Maine! We had a great time and we are so glad that we were able to visit with her!
Oh, I almost forgot that we got Sarah Kathryn a swing for outside. Okay, so we cheated a little bit and got the 9-48 month swing (it is all that I could find) but with a few towels stuffed around Sarah Kathryn and it works great! Sarah Kathryn seems to enjoy being outside so she has taken to the swing and she often will fall asleep in it which is nice too! I have been on a mission for the last couple of weeks trying to find a cd player/boom box. Who would have ever thought it would be so hard to find a boom box? Well, leave it to Wal-Mart to still carry such a thing. When I finally did find what I was looking for I was ecstatic because it was only $19.97! Now, we can turn on the nursery and bible songs. I have been trying to remember all the nursery songs but it turns out that I have a pretty poor memory. I love to sing to Sarah Kathryn and I think she gets a good laugh out of it so it keeps us busy for a little while each day!

Stace,
I'm so sorry you're having to go through all this with the breast feeding, or really the lack of it! Ouch...sounds painful. You're keeping a great attitude. Sarah Kathryn's definitely worth it! :)
It still amazes me how different EVERY mommy's experience is!
Love you, girl!
Shireen
