So, last Friday it finally happened....Luke ate poop and not his this time! I know disgusting. I almost died when I saw what he had gotten into. I had emptied Sarah Kathryn's diaper champ and put the bag next to the back door on the deck (only because it was raining and I did not want to get wet while walking it to the trash can). Shortly after I put the bag of dirty diapers on the deck I let Luke out to use the bathroom (in the rain). Sarah Kathryn and I went down stairs to play and then ventured upstairs to check on Luke. That is when I lost it. I was about to put her down for a nap so I grabbed the phone and called Thomas immediately. At this point, Luke was soaked and covered in poop. He ripped the diapers open and even carried them down to the yard, he was rolling in the poop...I guess. Thomas told me to leave him outside. When Thomas got home he cleaned up the mess and had to spray Luke down with the hose on the deck and the water was freezing. Luke had to sleep in the garage that night because we were afraid he still had that poo stench. The next day, I started to notice that Luke's tail was very limp and just hanging between his legs. I thought it was very odd but Thomas thought it was pretty normal. Then we began to press on his tail and Luke seemed very uncomfortable. I began to worry. I decided to google"why would a dogs tail be limp" and immediately I found out why! Luke had "cold water tail", apparently it is very common in his breed to get this when emerged in cold water for a period of time. It was pretty humorous but still we did not feel so guilty because he brought this all on himself...poor Luke:( Needless to say, his tail is back to normal a week later. Note to self: don't leave a full bag of dirty diapers out for your dog to feast on!
