What I've learned the past 7 months ...

Since this blog is The Picardy's, Stacey thought it was time that I contribute to the blog and I agree. So, without further ado, here is my first post and what I've learned the past 7 months (actually 7 months, two weeks), not an exhaustive list of course...
1. First and foremost, I've learned how truly amazing my wife is. I mean, I knew she was amazing, but I get to see it lived out everyday. Homemaking is a profession. If you disagree, come try it for a day and I guarantee you'll go running back to your cush office job exhausted and crying. It is a true juggling act and I have yet to see Stacey drop a ball! So often I have to just get out of the way, not out of apathy, but inadequacy. If you want to see the woman described in Proverbs 31, come to my house and I'll show her to you. You'll leave with a new respect for the stay at home mom and probably something with your monogram on it!http://staceysstitches.blogspot.com/

2. The clearest view of God is not through the eyes of a student, a teacher, a son, a friend, an engineer, not even a husband. It's through the eyes of a Father. God has taught me more about Himself in 7 months through my little baby girl than He has in 31 years as all the other things.

3. A baby's laugh and cry, alike, are raw emotion and they evoke a raw response. I have found myself making noises and faces, and dancing around like a pure idiot just to get a laugh or stop a cry. All while the realization emerges I'm standing in the middle of Target and a crowd has started to gather to watch the crazy man entertain his child.

4. A grandparent's love is a close, close second. Few days and many miles kept me from my grandparents. How thankful I am for a different life for SK.

5. A dog is man's best friend ... until you have kids, and then they're just another one of the kids. Don't worry, Luke, we still love you.

6. Poop on the hand and throw up in the mouth (her throw up, my mouth) are not so bad, all things considered of course.

7. Time runs by a different clock once you have a child. If months pass as seconds, I fear that years will go by as days.
